Tahoe hotels

Looking for recommendations for hotel accomodations in Lake Tahoe. Would prefer to be on or near the lake. Reasonably priced with 4/5 star service and cleanliness.

Northshore or Southshore???
also it really helps if you have some range of how much willing ,to spend and time of year of visit.
Northshore seems to have fewer hotels although there is a "new" Hyatt. In the past it was more of a "family" centered area--small motels with pools/beach access/hiking -bicycle rentals.
Southshore has lots of hotels and motels. The big hotel/casino combination often has better prices plus restaurants/buffets on the premises.
We always go to Southshore because of more access to gambling and good restaurants..
Just a personal preference...
Hope this helps

I can recommend a place NOT to stay. The Caesars in Stateline. I was there for a wedding in April. While the service at the restaurants there was very good, the hotel itself was horrible with regards customer service.

We like the Hyatt Resort & Casino in Incline Village, the only hotel located at the lake with 4/5 star service I know of. You can get the Sunshine on Sale package which brings the price down with a free night, and includes breakfast. Great restaurants in the area. We drive the 25 min. to the South shore, once during the week for more gambling/entertainment options.
8-)

There aren't many hotels actually on the lake. Some do have terrific views of the lake, but the big hotels are all away from the lake shore.

You really do need to tell us what "reasonably priced" means (one person's reasonable is another's outrageous) and when you are traveling. Some periods there are no bargains to be had - but other times you can get really good deals because it isn't main ski season or high summer . . . . .

Hyatt on the north dhore, Embassey Suites on the south shore- otherwise, Tahoe is mostly mom and pop roadside motels and old, worn casino hotels.

I don't recommend any hotel. I also rent a condo or cabin. No service but the better ones are much nicer than any hotel. Many come with private hot tubs and full kitchens and cost the same as a hotel.

I use

Check out Harrah's if you want to be on the South Shore. Great rooms and views, two bathrooms, a couple of good restaurants and a decent casino.

I agree with the Hyatt Resort and Casino. It's the nicest place we've stayed in Tahoe. Here's a link to my epinions review:

I am not a big fan of Lake Tahoe but family members love the Hyatt.

Syd, I just read a few days ago that Cesears has been sold and will be completely remolded. Can't remember who purchased it. So maybe in the future it will be better. Seems like the article said it will have an Asian theme, but not positive about that.
