Tactile Dome- Exploratorium in San Francisco - Is it worth it?

I am looking into getting reservations for the Tactile Dome in the Exploratorium. Any opinions as to whether it's worth it or not. Bearing in mind that it costs $12 per person and there are four of us. That includes general museum admission also. But if we go to the museum alone we can get in free as we belong to our local science museum, and they have a reciprocal agreement. Thanks.

The Tactile Dome is a unique and really neat experience, but I guess only you can decide if it's worth the money if you'd otherwise have free admission. One caveat: if you are at all claustrophobic, it's not a good idea. Basically, you crawl through tunnels in the dark, surrounded by different textures and things to feel. The idea is to give yourself over to your sense of touch. In my experience, adults think it's pretty cool and kids just love it.
