LN - got to get me a plane ticket to Florida!!!

LN Aug 22nd, 2003 01:18 PM

Hey - it's like they sprout these little old guys on their trikes all over that entire state!!

Perhaps it's just their way of entertaining us.

Anyway it's back to work up north and things aren't a hill of beans better in DC

ARKANSASNURSE Aug 22nd, 2003 02:50 PM

Is this an Arkansas thing? A 30ish woman with nails done, hair done driving a Lexus, buying lobster tails at the grocery store with a food stamp card. Tacky?

I know this is tacky....I planned it that way, but the old pink bathtub is now on the front lawn waiting to become a water garden as soon as the remodel is finished!!! The pink toilet is already a flower pot! Any Ideas for the pink sink? I'm thinking water fountain?

ARKANSASNURSE Aug 22nd, 2003 02:57 PM

DH says the pink sink will become a bird bath, how's that for tacky?

hauntedheadnc Aug 22nd, 2003 03:18 PM

I dunno, Arkansasnurse... that sounds like it's dangerously close to tacky-chic to me. Then again, I know someone who once turned an old clawfoot tub into an aquarium, and it looked wonderful, so what would I know?

rjw_lgb_ca Aug 22nd, 2003 03:46 PM

I think the porcelain lawn ornaments sound pretty, ARKANSASNURSE!! Just as long as you don't augment it with a Chevy El Camino on blocks-- painted pink.... Then we will have lost you to the Trash Side!! >:-)

Everyone have a tacky-chic weekend!! :)

Kal Aug 22nd, 2003 04:15 PM

A'Nursey-Will the birds at the "birdbath" be big pink flamingos???

Watch out about the food stamps/Lobster comments becuase you're sounding like one of those evil Republicans! :-d
Kalifornia patient.

Saturday Night Live, had a very amusing skit where the character is supposed to be Martha Stewart. She suggests taking a shopping cart, fill it would moss or other drainage and plant your garden. Now you can wheel it where the sun goes.

Kal call me tacky. I have 4 Pink Plastic Flamingos in my front yard under my palmetto tree.

Tacky, tacky, tacky. My sister in law got buzzed at an engagement party at our house and renamed them the Pink Chickens.

Now every Christmas everyone buys us "Pink Chicken Paraphernalia".

crazieladybug Aug 22nd, 2003 07:00 PM

Men in speedos.

Any age!

cigalechanta Aug 22nd, 2003 07:21 PM

sunnydelite Aug 22nd, 2003 07:21 PM

men in speedos..I agree on that one too!!!!!!!!!eww!!
lmao
women who look at themselves in their compact mirror....or in their rearview in the car and apply makeup!!!

ARKANSASNURSE Aug 23rd, 2003 05:58 AM

No evil Repubs here and thanks for the nice comments about the pink bathroom fixtures in the yard. No El Caminos either ut love the flamingo idea. I wanted to find another pink toilet and make end of the driveway planters, one on each side, DH drew the line on that one. The pink things will be in the enclosed English garden he spent 2 years in...we affectionately call him Martha! And got the idea for the bathroom things becoming lawn ornament from HGTV! I love the idea of being chic...even if it is tacky. Love to all!!

Arkansasnusrse,
While driving into the Berkshires in Mass, we passed a lovely Victorian home with an old claw foot tub in the side yard, full of petunias and flowers falling over the edges. It was very charming and prettty. It was white but I am sure pink will be lovely too :)

To Cigalechanta:
I just cannot type correctly when contemplating sparse greasy strands of long hair combed over a nearly bare head - ewwwww !! And they better not come over either.

cigalechanta Aug 23rd, 2003 04:09 PM

jmm, not to worry, I sent the word out to not deal with you....:)

cigalechanta Aug 23rd, 2003 04:35 PM

P. S. I think that tacky is a tacky word. I hate the word Sweetie, but people I really like use it alot not knowing I cringe.
But these are all subjective,
Be nice, and you'll never be tacky. Some of the nicest dressed people I met were the tackiest.

Scarlett Aug 23rd, 2003 04:58 PM

Bummer, Mimi, I have called you sweetie :(
No more cringing , I will call you lovee :D

cigalechanta Aug 23rd, 2003 05:11 PM

Oh-h Scarlett you are a true Southern belle! Thanks. I didn't want to offend you when you did call me that knowing it''s you.
My brother-in-law has been on the edge of divorce for a few years and calls his wife, sweetie. I advised her, since she did not like that, to tell him to drop the sweetie and start being sweet to her. So far it's worked.

crazymina Aug 23rd, 2003 06:32 PM

Tacky can make for good people watching. It does stink, however when it becomes a nuisance.

I don't like cashiers with 4 inch nails. If my total is 3.12, I will frantically dig for change! I know I will be sitting there forever while she attempts to gather the change, then flings the coins all over the counter.

So I think that's kinda tacky.
