Swimming in Ft. Lauderdaly in October

How is the weather in Ft. Lauderdale in second half of October? Is it warm enough to swim? What's the water temperature?

I can give you a provisional answer until someone with direct knowledge answers back.

Based on my October beach experiences at Crescent Beach (just south of St. Augustine and possibly cooler) beach weather is magnificent and water temps should be approximately 80ºF.
