Swap Meet Oahu/State Fair

Just picked this up on a Budman thread but don't think the question got answered. Anyone?
"I understand the Swap Meet is held at Aloha Stadium. The 50th State Fair runs from May 26th thru June 19th. How will this affect the Swap Meet??"

It doesn't affect it at all. The state fair in Hawaii is more like a county fair in most states. It is in one corner of the parking lot.

The swap meet is over at 3pm (most vendors start leaving about 1pm). Even though the fair is open at noon on Saturdays and Sundays, hardly anyone shows up until evening for the fair. So even though they overlap a little, neither is affected.

The fair also is not open on Wednesdays.

We went to the swap meet and found it to be a total waste of time. At two booths, if my son-in-law dickered down on something, walked away and then came back, the price went up!
We felt a lot of the stuff not the best quality either.

Just back. State Fair has no affect on the Swap Meet.

I almost have to agree with tcapp. Lots of trinkets. You can purchase your grass skirts with a set of coconuts for $6.00. ((a))

My wife bought a couple of barrettes, a pair of ear rings, and some garlic Mac nuts to munch on, and I bought a snow cone.

If you're into fleas, trinkets, and "stuff," this is the place for you. ((a)) ((b))

Thanks for the reply. No trinkets needed. We'll use out time more wisely elsewhere.

Trav, we went to the Swap Meet on the day we did Pearl Harbor. About like everyone else, we bought the famous 10 for $20 tee shirts.. they are ok. Needed that many so $20 was better than $200. The real icee bought some macadamias and I think we shared a shave ice. But if you need artificial leis or that type of thing, you can get some really pretty ones there for not much money.

It was fun to walk thru, but not sure I would do it again unless we needed more shirts.
