2009 was a recovery year.

I had a hip replacement surgery in June (and I thought I had a pulled groin) and my wife had knee surgery in September.

2010.
Tuscany in late June.
Yellowstone and Grand Tetons in early August.

2009: NYC in March for a week, the first time we went up as tourists instead of shoppers (though really, is there much difference?); short drives from home to all points north and east; Senoia, GA for Thanksgiving (visiting aunt, uncle, cousin and his family; I fell hard for Senoia); Italy in June (Naples, Pompeii, Rome, Orvieto, Montecatini, Florence, Lido, Venice).

2010: NYC; Maine, Rhode Island and coastal Mass.; Georgia again; the historic triangle in Virginia; Ireland to visit the boyfriend (hopefully); either Greece with Santorini or Madrid and Barcelona with a bunch of my students and their parents. Oh yes, and then there's spring break, which I'll be spending in HAWAII!

On a strict budget this year, but by September, 2009, without a paycheck for 2 months and things not looking hopeful in ever seeing a paycheck at work, I was DONE with lamenting over whether I'd ever see Paris again. So,
2009: U.S.: The usual California suspects: Monterey, Carmel, San Francisco, Sacramento, San Diego (1 night, to see Joan Baez), and Berkeley, Berkeley, Berkeley (son in college).
France: Paris, Nice, Aix, Avignon, Arles, Cannes, Juan les Pins, Golfe Juan. And Monaco, especially nice when you have no money!

Having spirits completely revived, I got a new job that actually pays. So. . . .
2010:
Greece & Greek Islands!

In 2009, South Africa: http://www.fodors.com/community/afri...a-sunshine.cfm and Altoona: http://www.fodors.com/community/unit...altoona-pa.cfm, along with a day trip to Washington, DC. (Took one of the tip-only "DC by Foot" tours: recommended. http://www.dcbyfoot.com/

2010, hoping for Australia: Sydney, Alice Springs-Uluru (with two nights camping under the stars between the two), and Cairns.

2009: Returned to San Antonio for one week; Assateague Island, MD; Boston; DC & NYC for daytrips.

2010: San Antonio (Jan), Paris (April), San Francisco (May), Yellowstone & Grand Tetons (Aug/Sep), and Las Vegas (Oct) with hopes of a trip to Miami to see my FIL and Santa Fe (Sep) for the GTG. Considering a trip to Block Island, off the coast of RI, for fall bird migration. And, in general, look forward to further exploration of the area in which we now live.

2009 - Lost my job beginning of 2009 but closed the year with a Weekend on Cape Cod in September and a week in San Francisco/Monterey which was a combined business/pleasure trip that I brought hubby along.

2010 - Escaping New England weather at end of January with trip to Miami and Key West. Also will be visiting brother in South Carolina. Don't have additional plans yet for the rest of the year.

I'm a "kansasmom" too, by the way!

2009 was mostly "small" travels, but "big" for me:

March: Nashville & Memphis with my daughter, seeing the Grand Ol Opry for the first time and then Graceland (with a stay at the Peabody Hotel).
September: Denver to go to a concert at Red Rocks for the first time ever...full moon, hours and hours of great music, fun with friends old and new!
October: back to Nashville for two great shows on two consecutive nights

For 2010, there's not a lot "on the books" as yet and not sure there will be what with a HS graduation for one kid and a wedding for the other, I probably won't have much $ or time for traveling. BUT I am headed to Ft. Worth January 2nd to see a concert at Billy Bob's...another first.

You may notice a pattern to my travels...I definitely live up to my screen name!
