Surfer's rash guard shirts w/ SPF

Hey all,

Do you happen to know if those surfers' shirts (called rash guards) with SPF to protect against burns have an expiration date? I would think that the sun protection in them couldn't last forever. Regular sunscreen has an expiration date....

We have two shirts that we bought two years ago and haven't used since, but are thinking of breaking them out again this week for a vacation. Will they still protect? (Obviously we'll slather on the real stuff too.)

Thx- L

Rit makes a product that called Sunguard. You add it to your wash and it makes any fabric protect against sunburn. Check it out.

The SPF part is in the weave, not a chemical additive. As long as the shirt still fits, it should be okay.
Just look through the shirt--the tighter the weave--the better the spf. (hubby is a life-long surfer and cancer survivor!)

Thanks, Trvlmaven! And it's good that your hubby is sun smart! (After years of abusing my skin, I'm finally being responsible...)

Went out and bought another spf shirt this weekend, a girl can never have too many! ;)
