SuperShuttle & Go Airport Shuttle? Miami & Chicago

Hey!

Just a quick question and hoping you guys have had experience with these services.

I'm looking at using a shuttle 3 times during my trip. The first one from South Beach to Miami Airport (flight is at 12:30pm) and then again from Chicago O'Hare to Mag Mile (arrive 2:45pm), then reverse when I need to go back to O'hare (9:15am flight).

I've come across both SuperShuttle and Go Airport shuttle and was hoping to get reviews on them. I've only read reviews about them in NYC but I'd imagine the NYC pace is a bit more full on that Miami or Chicago. The shuttles are between $15-$20 each way which I find reasonable. I was originally considering catching public transport for the trips in Chicago however don't really feel too confident doing this ( first solo trip & will look like your typical 21 yr old tourist girl ).

I've also had a look at Uber and the prices seem reasonable enough (assuming getting a shuttle is a bad idea) however I'm still a bit hesitant on Uber as I've been reading people have calculated estimated fares and on their actual trip it has come to over double.

This will be in August - not sure if months matter too much, peak/off peak kinda sense.

Also, if anyone could let me know what would be good times to leave where I'm staying to get to the airport.. not sure how long ahead you should arrive. They are all domestic flights.

Thanks in advance!

The shuttles in Chicago offer notoriously bad service. You're arriving and leaving during rush hour, so you'll sit in traffic and the 30 minute drive will take a couple hours. Take the CTA Blue Line. It will cost $5.00 from ORD and $2.25 to return. Follow the signs from the baggage level of T1-3 that say "CTA Trains to City". Just don't block seats or the aisles with your bags. The trip will take around 50-55 minutes. Exit at Clark/Lake and take a cab from there to your hotel for under $10. Depending on where you're staying, you may even be able to walk. Reverse the process for your return.

The ORD station and Clark/Lake both have escalators and elevators, so you shouldn't have too much of a problem with luggage.

If you use Uber, only Uber Black can pick-up at O'Hare, but again, you'd be stuck in traffic watching trains whizzing past.

We always take the Blue Line into Chicago from ORD. Get off at Clark and Lake as there are escalators and get a taxi or walk to hotel. I see Go Airport vans in Chicago but never use shuttles.

I will take the shuttle from the airport to the hotel in Chicago but I always cab back. I find the hotel pick up times to be suggestions only-even with a reservation and do not chance it.

I have been lucky and have avoided sitting in traffic most of the time.

Take the Blue line. At 3.45pm it will be rush hour and traffic barely moving. The only drawback to the Blue line is the long hike from the terminal to the train station. But it is all inside, AC, and some moving sidewalks. Just follow the flow. Lots of people will be taking it. Have a $5 bill handy for the fare machine.
