Super Shuttle Manhattan
 

Four ladies with at least two bags each needing to get to mid-town hotel from lga..arriving on a Sunday morning..would Super Shuttle be the way to go?..will traffic be lighter than usual?..should we reserve ahead of time or just wait until we get to lga?

From what I have read and seen since there are four of you, you may want to take a cab instead. We had four of us, two adults two teens in one cab for $20 from LGA to midtown (Hilton at Rockefeller) one way. That included tip. I think the supershuttle would run you at least $45.00 split 4 ways. You may be better off even with two cabs if you think you have too much luggage.

Should note we were traveling across town around 1 a.m. in the morning, but I would imagine Sunday morning traffic is very light also.

Definitely take a cab. There are cab vans which would definitely hold the four of you and your luggage.
Sunday morning traffic should be very light. The only exception would be if it's Laguardia, it's late morning during the baseball season and the Mets are playing a home game at Shea Stadium. Then, you'd encounter some traffic.

Agree that cabs are the way to go - but there's no way 1 cab with hold 4 people and 8 bags. Even so, 2 cabs would be no more than the shuttle. Just remember that the tip (I do 20%) is on the fare only - not on the bridge toll. If you go over the Triborough - the fastest way - traffic for Shea should not affect you. (It's true if you go the 59h street bridge there is no toll - but the extra time will run up the fare anyway - so I believe the Triborough is best barring an accident.)

Four people could get in a cab but the luggage would probably be a problem . One taxi to midtown would cost between $25 and $30 tip and toll included. If you used two cabs the cost would be no more than $60. The Super Shuttle costs between $15 and $22 a person depending on where you are going. The least expensive fare for four would be $60 and the Super Shuttle would probably take longer. Use the taxi.

I'd recommend a car service, such as Tel Aviv or Carmel, rather than a cab. The cars are much nicer, and you can let them know what size you'll need.

The "Super" Shuttle would be a colossal waste of money & time for 4 people. A taxi or car service is the way to go.

Are the vans readily available upon arrival like regular taxi? Do we need to arrange ahead of time? Thanks

No vans are not readily available. If you want to do a van you need to arrange in advance with one of the car services and the driver will meet you at the luggage area. but you must tell them in advance how many people and how much luggage so they have a large enough vehicle.

If you decide to go by taxi you simply take them in order as they pull up and its most likely you will simply get 2 regular cabs.

If you decide to use a car service you will be told to call as soon as you have retained your luggage. You are usually told a car will arrive in 5 minutes or so and then you have to be outside the terminal to hook up with the driver - not so easy a task with lots of cars arouned The last time I did this the car never showed up despite three calls. I wound up taking a taxi. A van must be arranged for in advance and the driver will meet you in the luggage claim area. A van costs more than a regular car and parking fees and possibly a fee for waiting may be involved. The total cost will proably exceed $60. Two taxis is the way to go.

I would have to assume that this cannot be 2 large bags--maybe a suitcase and a carryon? If it is 2 large bags really re-think your packing!! :o)
