Sunset Times
 

Here in Florida the sun sets at very different times depending on the time of year. (5:30 in winter, 8 pm in July)

Is the same not true for Hawaii because of its proximaty to the equarter.

I see posts about getting dinner reservations at 5:30 - 6 to watch the sunset.

Wouldn't it depend on what time of year one is going to Hawaii?

Florida is about 25-30 degrees North, while Hawaii is about 19-22 degrees. Since it's closer to the Equator, length of day (and therefore sunrise and sunset times) don't change as much. A place on the Equator will have the same sunrise and sunset times every day of the year.

So it looks like the sun sets in Hawaii as early as 5:48 in late November and as late as 7:18 in July.

That could make a big difference in when one should make dinner reservations. Thanks for the website - very helpful.

We do not have daylight savings time here in Hawaii. When you are setting your clocks forward one hour, our time is not changing. This is why it seems that there is less change in our sunset times. In June, when sunset is 8:15 in Miami it is 7:15 in Honolulu. If we observed daylight savings we the sunset would be at 8:15 too. In the winter our sunset is about 15 minutes later than it would be for you.
