Sunset Dinner Cruise or dinner at David Paul's Lahaina grill?

Hello,
We are getting married in Hawaii and some friends want to treat us to one of these two activities. Can any give us advice on which is the best thing to do?
Thanks for your replies in advance.

David Paul's has excellent food, no view, and is very noisy.

PS Best wishes on your wedding. My husband and I wed there thirteen years ago and I still think it was the most romantic wedding I ever attended.

Are you going on any other "cruise" type things? (Like a snorkeling cruise). If not, then the dinner cruise might be your best bet. We did both things and while the food wasn't great, it was fun to be out on the water. David Paul's has GREAT food, but no view and the atmosphere isn't fancy or tropical. I would go there for the food alone...not the experience.

Bottom line--unless you are already going out on a cruise, then do the dinner cruise. You can eat good food anywhere, but you can't enjoy a cocktail on a boat while watching the sun set everywhere!

No, we aren't doing any other cruise and I agree that getting out on the water would be wonderful. Thanks, for helping me to decide.

IMHO cocktail and snacks cruise is better than a dinner cruise as you're out in the open - some dinner cruises have you down below.
Last trip we went out with Pac Whale (Lahaina), about 50ft sailing catamaran, and it was fun, good snacks too, then had light dinner once ashore.
As others have said, being out on the water is great, being out on the water as the sun sets is better yet, the setting sun lights up the west Maui mountains and brings out the colours. We also had an escort of flying fish - blue ones, not seen ones that colour before ;)
