Sunnyvale California

What is there to do in Sunnyvale California on a Friday afternoon and evening.

We will be staying here for one evening on our way to Monterey the next day.

Thanks
Norm

In downtown Sunnyvale there are a few blocks of walkable streets, restaurants, and so on.

Palo Alto is a popular place and isn't far away - University Ave and that area has a lot of choices. It tends to be more upscale there.

Or you could go to SJ. For upscale stuff, check out Santana Row. For more variety, downtown SJ has some good choices, upscale, midscale, and very casual.

What sort of thing are you looking for?

Do you golf, Norm?
There's a great Thai restaurant near Macy's and all the banks. There's also good live music nearby. You'll find most of the Sunnyvale nightlife concentrated in one are here.

Used to work in computer industry in S'vale and learned early (from my properllerhead co-workers) that there are quite a few dancing girls employed there.

City of Mountain View is also nearby with many restaurants and such located on Castro St.

San Jose, as Ms. Correa noted, has much to offer at Santana Row and in the city center.

Los Gatos and Saratoga are great for an evening out, except for the ocasional encounter with some xenophobic inhabitants.

Visit the TECH MUSEUM in downtown San Jose then do dinner at AP STUMPS in downtown San Jose.

I believe that Stumps has peaked. I can think of several better values in SJ dining. It could be one of the best restaurants on Santa Clara St. You could just go around the corner to Peggy Sue's and save $312.01 and get a good sandwich for $7.99.

I've never been to Stumps since it is a bit beyond my budget, but I will second the recommendation for Peggy Sue's :)

Anybody been to the Sonoma Chicken Coop across the street?

Been there a few times. It's consistent. I like Peggy Sue's and all that, but was really making a comment on the $320 dinner for 2 at AP Stump's. It's a nice place, but I would also consider a few other restaurants : Emile's, 840 North First, Paolo's, La Fondue, Scott's, La Foret, Plumed Horse...

I went to Sonoma Chicken Coop a few weeks ago. I was really disappointed in the food. You can do much better in downtown San Jose. (Stumps notwithstanding.)
