Sunday restaiurant times: All restaurants open in Charleston (downtown?)

Somebody at work mentioned that "Charleston is shut down on Sunday." Is this accurate? Are restaurants that are usually open for lunch and dinner open on Sundays at these times? Thanks.

Not accurate. Use opentable.com to see.

You did tell them you were talking about CHARLESTON, didn't you? LOL

Opentable is a good idea.

DebitNM Nov 1st, 2013 03:37 PM

keep in mind that if you are wanting to eat somewhere and opentable isn't showing availability, call the restaurant. Often, restuarants don't usually give full availability to Opentable.

FWIW, every time I see this thread title I think it says "Sunday restaiurant times: All restaurants open in CHINATOWN" (and I wonder what SC city has a Chinatown).

That certainly is inaccurate. Charleston's main industry is tourism, so it would dumb to shut down anytime.

Most places are open. I know SNOB doesn't do lunch on weekends, but its sister restaurant High Cotton does. FIG is closed on Sunday. Magnolia's is open all day every day.

Pick the ones you like and check their websites.

It would not be unfair to say that Charlestonians like to have a good time. Eating out is part of that. You won't starve.

suewoo Nov 2nd, 2013 04:23 AM

Correct Acks! Even though it's a tourist mecca, people live and work there. So it never shuts down like a beach town in winter.

And Cranachin, Charleston is sadly lacking in good Chinese.

Gretchen Nov 2nd, 2013 05:29 AM

But it brings up the old old joke--how are Charlestonians like the Chinese==they eat rice and worship their ancestors.

If one restaurant happens to be closed there are another 10 that are open!!

Don't forget brunch!!

Thanks again!
