Sunday lunch, not brunch in NYC
I'm looking for a tasty restaurant in NY that has more of a lunch food menu on Sundays rather than breakfast food.
prefered location: Greenwich Village preferred ambiance: Old New York - not too modern Preferred cuisine: Anything but Asian or Spanish Thanks!! |
I think I know what you're saying, but in NYC don't be put off by seeing they have a brunch menu. That is rarely if ever all breakfast food. In fact the pancake/egg type selections are often pretty minor compared to the pastas, fresh fish, sandwiches, and even steaks. Brunch is NOT breakfast in NYC.

Hi,
I really enjoy Sarabeth's, they have a variety of very delicious things! There are several locations in Manhattan too. http://www.sarabethsbakery.com/ Good luck! |
Please call the following to make sure they are open for brunch/lunch on Sundays
Cafe de Bruxelles City Hall |
Thank you very much!!

If you check out menupages.com you can find out what the brunch menu actually is. And - it's very rarely just - or even mostly breakfast food -since it's usually served from noon to 4 pm or so.
There are usually pastas and some actual main courses (chicken, fish, even steak sandwich or salad - although usually not huge pieces of meat) as well as the eggs florentine, fancy omelets etc. |
I agree with NeoPatrick about the brunch/lunch thing. In any case, perhaps Cafe Loup on W 13 between 6th and 7th? A great neighborhood spot with jazz on Sundays (until about 2). I am also very fond of August on Bleecker and (I think) Charles. Food is better at August but Loup is more old NY, and there will be salads and burgers in addition to an omelet or two.

I guess I should add that the staff at Cafe Loup tends to be very...laid back so be prepared for leisurely service.
