sunday brunch: orchids or hoku's?
Happy Friday! Day-dreaming about my trip to Oahu and was wondering which restaurant had the better Sunday brunch: Orchids or Hoku's? Orchids appears to get the most recommendations in the forum overall (and would be the most convenient for us), but Hoku's menu on the Kahala Resort website sounds scrumptious!
What a dilemma
Thanks!

I've had brunch at both in the last few months. Hoku's food is really good, interesting and very trendy (appetizers in shot glasses, etc)but the setting is indoors. If you have a window seat the view is very pretty.
At Orchids, it is more open with rattan furniture in a lanai setting. Feels much more 'Hawaii'. The food is pretty much the traditional selection, but lots of choices and tastes wonderful.
Prices at both were around $50 a head. I'd go for Orchids, especially if you want to wander Waikiki afterwards.
Then if you still want to go eat at the Kahala, have dinner at Hoku's or have afternoon tea on the veranda.

I don't think it's connected with Don Ho or his daughter. It is a fine dining type place out at Kahala Resort.
There is a Don Ho's at Aloha Tower Marketplace that he's a part of. Burgers and beer dining.

Hoku is a pop "star" not a restauranter. I stand corrected! http://www.donho.com/hoku_ho.html
