Sun, beach, spa and convenient location?

Do all of these features exist in one city? We've got a group of friends traveling from all over the country, and we're trying to decide on a good place to have a four day weekend in May. We'd like a place not too far from a major airport. Hoping for some fresh ideas...thanks in advance for your response!

you don't say when but san diego & area sounds like it meets your requirements.

San Diego would be a great place for a May vacation. There's an airport, plenty of sunny weather, miles of beach and there are some good spas.

Another idea would be to head a little further south and go to Baja or further down to a resort in Mexico.

Not sure if Miami would be an option, but the Doral does have a nice spa...Expensive as hell though.

Brenda,
Need more info (budget, domestic no Caribbean, etc). I would recommend the Ritz in Naples, FLA or the Breakers inb Palm Beach. I also second the Doral. There's also a new Ritz in Key Biscayne and another one opening up soon in Miami Beach. If you can forego the beach, I would recommend Phoenix (the Phoenician, or the Boulders) or Tuscon (Canyon Ranch). OF course these places are wonderful but $$$$.

San Diego or Hilton Head would be my suggestions. If you tell us where you're coming from, perhaps you'll get a few more ideas. If you're all on the west coast, you could even go to Maui for 4 days.

The girls will literally be coming in from all over the country (NJ, WI, LA, CO, etc) for our four-day weekend. Unfortunately, our budget would not include the Ritz Carlton, but more like a W or Hyatt level. We'd like to be either in the U.S. or Carribean, since we don't want to waste all of our time getting there. Any cities, specific hotels or spas are greatly appreciated!

How about Puerto Rico? San Juan is now reached nonstop from LA. There are frequent flights from Chicago and of course from NYC. Im seeing great deals everywhere. Forget San Diego...dont people like to go to the beach to swim? You have to wear a wet suit to stand the frigid pacific.

If you're looking towards the Carribbean, I'd highly recommend St. John's. I think the Hyatt Resort is still there (or it's a Westin now). Anyway, absolutely GORGEOUS island - 90% of it is a natural reserve (preserved by the US Govt)! One of my favorite islands.
