Summertime in Mexico?

We are thinking about spending a week in Mexico this August at an all inclusive resort with another family...4 adults total with 6 children total ranging in ages from 20 months - 12 years old. What is Mexico like in the summer? I know it is hot but is it bareable or just not any fun at all?

Where in Mexico?

I'll hijack and ask about Cancum/Cozumel/Playa Del Carmen area.

How hot? Is it the rainy season?

Most of the beach resorts are hot and humid, with afternoon thunderstorms the norm. Hurricane season too.

It's similar to vacationing in Florida in August weather-wise, you'll be OK unless you are unlucky with the hurricanes. It's "bareable" but barely.

I only know the west/Pacific coast towns like Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta. It is VERY hot (90F+) and very humid, with sometimes thunderstorms in the late afternoons and at night.

It's impossible for me to guess whether you'd find it bareable or not.

We weren't sure where exactly, but the feedback alone is going to make us re-think it. The kids would complain a bit too much and for the money I would rather be somewhere where it is not as humid...good point about it being like Florida. Been there done that in the summer before...terrible unless in the water all the time. Thanks for the comments...

There are colonial town and cities in the mountains that would not be as hot in summertime. But I assumed you meant one of the coastal beach resort town of Mexico.
