Summer weather in Pennsylvania

My family plans to visit Philadelphia and nearby Longwood Garden at the end of August. Is the weather unbearably hot and humid at this time?

Come! enjoy! There are always Rita's water ices to keep you cool. There is frequently a breeze to assist as well.

Just curious...where are you from?? I live near Philly (sort of) and I say expect anywhere from mid eighties to mid nineties for the most part. The humidity all depends...it varies. Of course, this won't matter if you are going to be spending your trip indoors. If you are going to be out though, expect the heat.

The weather in Phila. varies. Even if it gets hot and humid in August, it's not usually the kind of unbearable heat you find in Florida in August. The nights are usually pleasant, even on the hot days. Try to schedule your trip to Longwood Gardens when they have the fountain and light shows.

Gail's advice is good--the evening fountain display at Longwood Garden usually takes place Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday nights from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Several times during the summer, a fireworks event is scheduled and I believe it's necessary to order tickets in advance.

Here's a link--

http://www.longwoodgardens.com/Fountains/schedule.htm

Don't miss the waterlilies! By day and by night, they are wonderful.
