Summer trip
 

We are going to Michigan this summer and will be staying in Traverse City and Mackinac City
Which is better for just two nights? We are only taking a day trip to Mackinac Island.

We traveled to Michigan last summer. We drove from Chicago. We stayed one night in a beach town on our drive North, 3 nights in Mackinaw City and 2 nights near Sleeping Bear Dunes. We stopped in Traverse City for the Cherry Festival. We really liked Mackinaw as a jumping off point to visit sites in the Upper Peninsula and Mackinac Island. We did it for a week on a previous trip.

Some of the morning ferry departures from Mackinaw City to Mackinac Island include a pass under the Mackinac Bridge. They are marked on the schedule and are a nice bonus for the trip.

Mackinac Island does become a magical world after the ferries leave. We love the Inn on Mackinac for a reasonable room if your plans change!
