Summer in Utah

I am looking for some help...we are going to SLC on Sat July 14 and heading to a family event on Tuesday, July 17. I'd like some guidance for fun things to do around Salt Lake and en route to Ogden. I have booked the Grand America for our first night, and can stay there for longer, but would like some fun ideas. No long drives, please as we will be with my 6 and 7 year olds who are not great on long car drives. We are active and hoping to find some interesting and fun things to do in and around Salt Lake. Thank you!

Visit the Hogle Zoo http://www.hoglezoo.org/
Also there is a great aquarium near the downtown.
Don't know how you feel about Temple Square.
If you wanted to go south from SLC there is a dinosaur type museum in Price.
NW of Ogden is the Golden Spike marker where the rails met on the first transcontinental rail line.
You need an immediate freshwater shower if you try swimming in the lake.

Drive up to see Victorian Park City (45 minutes?) - a Silver Mining town and classic ski area - as is the Little Cottonwood Canyon - with Alta and Snowbird.

Rungirl,

Doa search here for Salt Lake City & ParkCity. Welocal Fodorites have tons of suggestions in older threads.

Much to do for all ages.

I suggest you write to Fodors and ask them to retag your post to Utah and not just the US.

Rungirl,

I topped an old Salt Lake / Park City thread for you. Did you see it?

Great...thnk you very much for everyone's thoughts, and I did see the top-ed post, thank you! One real specific question, is there anything to see or fun to do b/w Salt Lake City and Ogden?

Thank you!
Sarah
