Suite for 5, NYC
 

Help please.. planning a reunion for 5 women early january, 1 week-end night in NYC.Would prefer 1 room suite. Have called several hotels & most won't take 5. Unfortunately price does matter so can not look at the very
"high-end" suites available. Any suggestions? Do want to be in city.

Five adults is a lot of people in a suite, which is why you are having trouble booking. You might try the Doubletree or the Embassy Suites. Why is a suite for that many people necessary? How about two suites that are next to each other?

Don't know what you're thinking when you say "one room suite". One regular room ain't gonna sleep 5 people. The most you can get in a regular room is 4 people in 2 double or queen beds. Many hotels will not allow more than 4 in a room b/c of fire codes.

If you mean a one bedroom suite (ie 2 rooms-a sitting room and a bedroom) <i>some</i> of those can sleep 6 if every one shares (4 in the bedroom in 2 beds and 2 in the living room on a sofabed). Some budget options in that category (but not all will necesarily allow 5 in a one bedroom) are:

Radio City Apartments
Best Western Hospitality
The Salisbury
Murray Hill Suites

The good news is early Jan. should be a relatively less expensive time. I know the one bedroom apts. at Radio City can be had for as little as $155, although the website says those are for 4. If it's available for your date, you might phone and doublecheck.

Hotel Stanford has suites that will sleep five with two doubles and a sofa bed. They are pretty affordable, too.

to my mind, two adjoining large double rooms, one with an extra bed added (or one with an added sofabed) would be much more preferable and provide two bathrooms. What do you want to spend per night for the five of you?

So you're looking at about $275 per night plus taxes. Depending on your dates the Radio City Apartment has 2-beroons suites availble (one queen room and one twin room) with a sofabed for the fifth person.

I would grab this ASAP assuming it is cancellable and then look further if you want.

(This is a fairly basic place - but it has a central location and most guests seem happy with it.)

I'll second mclaurie's recommendation for the Murray Hill *East* Suites. They used to be one-bedroom apartments; they're unpretentious (i.e., a little outdated) but roomy and come with a fully-equipped kitchen as well as a separate bedroom. Some of their suites have 2 double beds in the bedroom and a sofabed in the livingroom.

At $65/person I'd strongly recommend you try for an arrangement so you get 2 bathrooms, as Realshalott says. (5 women with 1 bathroom, not fun) Either 2 regular rooms (rather than a suite) or perhaps a 2 bedroom suite with 2 baths. 2 separate rooms may also mean less bed sharing and no sofabeds.

The Stanford (mentioned by Statia), Red Roof Inn and the Herald Square are all decent budget hotels near Macy's.
