Suggestions for US trip

Planning a trip to US in April 07, flying into San Fransico 31 March arrive 12.30pm, stay for 4 nights, flying to visit friends in Colombia, for 7 nights, then New York for maybe 3 or 4 nights,(not sure how to get there yet), flying to LA, for 5 nights, flying back to NZ 11pm 20th April. We intend to visit Disneyland but apart from that open to suggestions. Is there time to do a trip to the Grand Canyon on the way from New York ie fly to Phoenix, or Las Vegas, then onto LA after that. Any tips, suggestions appreciated.

Oops, sorry Columbia, Maryland.

Why are you flying to S.F. and then to Colombia and then back to L.A??
Is there any reason why you need to do the U.S this way?
It's a long way from SF to NY
I would start in SF, then go to Disneyland in LA -Las Vegas or Grand Canyon. Go to NY and Colombia.
Wow that's a lot to do in less than 2 weeks. Is there anyway that your friends could fly west?

It's at least a 5 hour flight from Las Vegas to New York.

The main reason for our trip is to visit our friends in Columbia, and we would like to be there for part of their spring break which is the week before Easter. We will be away 3 weeks in all.

Your trip is certainly doable, though, as others have mentioned, you'll be spending a lot of time in the air. Then again, the flight from NZ is 12 hours, so a little more isn't that big of a deal. :-)

Be sure to visit some of the museums and monuments in Washington, DC, most of which are free and well worth your time.

Unless you can fly from New York into Phoenix or Las Vegas, I don't think you can fit in the Grand Canyon very easily. But if you can make it work, I'd chop a couple of days off your LA visit to do that.

Hi nelsonian, did you see my post on your other thread about checking out JetBlue. You could fly from JFK in NY to Las Vegas. I would imagine you could fly Southwest from Las Vegas to LA. Or you could fly from LasVegas to LongBeach (south of LA) again on JetBlue
