suggestions for South Texas?

My husband &I want to go to South Texas (we don't like Florida, want warm and want to bring our vehicle) for 2 weeks. He loves fishing, I love the shore and tennis. He's thinking Padre Island. I've never been outside of Dallas or Houston (on business). We're thinking 2 weeks if we can get a reasonable/nice condo or beach cottage. Any suggestions?

Port Aransas has alot of fishing options like dock, charter, large group fishing boats. There are boats and guides for inland waterways and fishing in Corpus Christi Bay. There are many newer rental homes and townhouses. We rented a house for a family reunion from Life In Paradise their office is located in town. The ferry ride over is about ten minutes but depending on the time of day the line maybe long.

If you don't like Florida, why are you expecting anything different in S. TX?

Another option is South Padre Island in far south Texas. Really pretty beaches (compared to other TX beaches) and other activities.

I second the vote for SPI. Not to speak badly of Port A, but I've always thought SPI has the best beaches in our state. Your husband will have no difficulty finding fishing boats, and you can enjoy the beautiful shoreline.

Try www.spionline.com for more information. They also have links to rentals.

Keep in mind that even South Padre Island can be chilly in winter. It isn't as warm as Florida!

I've started looking at South Padre Island. We're looking for a condo/house rental. Any suggestions on areas to stay away from or near? It would be nice to be able to walk to a few restaurants. Don't need to be in the middle of the busy area.

Just don't go too late if you want to avoid the rowdy Spring Breakers
