Suggestions for SC coast in late Oct/Nov?

I'm looking for suggestions on where to stay on the SC coast for a long weekend in late October or early November. We have 2 small kids ( 1 1/2 and 3 1/2). We aren't looking for a "basking in the sun" trip, but one where the kids can run around on the beach, play in the sand and maybe get in the water if isn't not too cold. We've stayed in Seabrook and Kiwah and while it was very nice, it can be a little pricey and there weren't too many kid friendly restaurants nearby. An area with kid friendly restaurants, maybe even a park nearby, would be a big plus. We like smaller villa style rentals over large condos, but location and price is as important (heated pool may be nice given the time of year too). Is SC a gamble that time of year and should we consider going further south?

SC coast will be great late October/early November. We've had a long Summer; September was hot here in Myrtle Beach. You'll probably be able to go in the ocean comfortably. Today was cool--it was only in the low 80s!

If you're looking for less pricy than Kiawah or Hilton Head, and family friendly, you should consider my hometown, Myrtle Beach.

You may be able to get something at a decent price in Kingston Plantation or Ocean Creek this time of year. Also, check out Elliott Rental or Sloan Rental or White Realty for house/villa options.

Have a great time!

Wild Dunes Resort in Isle of Palms is very nice. It is located on the beach. There is a hotel and they also have villas. I believe the pool is heated. Mt. Pleasant is nearby for kid friendly restaurants and entertainment.

Wild Dunes is our favorite, because of its proximity to Charleston. If you are looking for something more affordable there is a Holiday Inn Express nearby. Eat at the Boathouse.

Mytle Beach does have a lot of inside options if it is cold. My favorite resort is the brand new Marriott.

I will keep my fingers crossed. We have gone swimming in the ocean in October, but also have worn a parka.

If you do end up at Wild Dunes (great place, as the others have said), your kids would love Patriots Point. Right off of Highway 17 before you take the new bridge into Charleston. It has the USS Yorktown (a WWII aircraft carrier, as well as other naval vessels, including a submarine).

There are several family friendly areas between Myrtle Beach and Charleston. try Litchfield, Pawley's Island or Surfside. These are all less touristy than Myrtle Beach. Near Charleston there's Sullivan's Island and Isle of Palms. South of Charleston is edisto Beach and Folly Island. Good luck
