Suggestions for Pre-Theater Dining in New York

Looking for great pre-theater restaurant recommendations and other suggestions for dining close to Radio City Music Hall?

3 questions:
Price?
Type of food?
Lunch or dinner?

Look up Judson Grill in zagats.com or citysearch. See what you think.

I just recently went to The Sea Grill at Rock Center. It is on the bottom floor by the skating rink. Ask for a table at the window and you can watch everyone skate. Great for kids. I loved it too and the food was pretty good. When we went it was for Thanksgiving so I cannot comment on the menu.

There is another place doen there on the opposite side of the rink, not sure of the name. The Rock Center or somehting like that.

Also check out Chez Louis, not too far away.
Duane

If you like seafood, go to Foley's Fish House in Times Square in the Renaissance Hotel. There's also a great pizza place in an old church on West 48th west of Times Square. Is it John's Pizza? And do I have the street right?

Teresa Dec 2nd, 2001 08:02 PM

Yes, you're thinking of John's Pizza. Not sure what street it's on but it's directly across the street from Phantom of the Opera (not much help--sorry). Julie, our 9 and 12 year olds loved John's Pizza and the atmosphere (like Celeste said, it's housed in an old church) is kind of fun).

Just got back from NY.
Had a great dinner at La Bonne Soupe on 55th between 5th and 6th. About $40. for 2.
That's just about 3-4 blocks from Radio City.

I live and work in the aforementioned area and can recommend the following places:

Ruby Foo's - on Broadway at 49th (Chinese/Japanese/Asian-fusion fare in a gorgeous room, very close to Radio City)

Noche - on Broadway at 49th (Latin-fusion food in a breathtaking space, live music on Wednesdays and Saturdays)

Cité Grill - on West 51st (top notch steaks, fries, great wine list, fun casual, atmosphere)

Just has the most delicious mussels at Rue57 on 57th and 6th. We just had a few appetizers but if they entrees are as good as the apps. I recommend this place.
