Suggestions for Overnight Stay in Vermont
We will be traveling through Vermont from Maine and wondering about recommendation to stay for one night around the Killington/Rutland area. Traveling with two children. Any suggestions?

Hi,
My husband and I were just in Vermont and we stayed in a wonderful area called Stowe. There is a neat lodge called the Trapp Lodge where they filmed Sound of Music up on the hill side. Also there are alot of places in Stowe. Hope you enjoy!

I like Trailside Lodge, on Route 100, about 4-5 miles north of the Killington access road. Very friendly, rustic, beautiful location, and reasonably priced. There are several lodges nearby that are also nice, such as the Blue Bonnet Lodge.

Cindy:

Ty the Cotina Inn. Between the town of Rutland and the Killington Access road. Clean, nice accomodations, great Breakfast included!
JOHN

I think Cindy may be a bit confused.
The Sound of Music was not filmed in Vermont. It was filmed in Germany and Austria. The Trapp Family Lodge is owned by members of the family portrayed in the movie.

While Vermont has mountains, you could never mistake those mountains for the Alps.

We did a mini family reunion last summer at the Inn of the Six Mountains right in Killington. The corner rooms are huge with a separate bedroom, kitchenette and porch. There are also both indoor and outdoor pools. Using our entertainment book it was about $90.

We've also stayed at the Cortina, it's nice too.

Also, the Trapp Family Lodge, which indeed has an excellent reputation, is nowhere near the Killington/Rutland area. Stowe is in the northern section of the state.
