Suggestions for large dinner party in Vegas?

My daughter is throwing a blowout bash in Vegas in mid-January for her 30th birthday. We are looking for suggestions for dinner and later party/drinks for a large group...probably about 20-25 folks. I think we don't want to go broke on dinner, but would like some nice ambience. Then party place for afterwards.

Anyone??? :) Thanks!

I LOVE Cafe BaBa Reeba! It is located at the Fashion Show Mall with amazing views of the strip. Right below the Capital Grill. You can eat spanish inspired tapas, Sangria (SOOO reasonably priced) and sit outside for nice ambience. I went there for Halloween with about twenty of us...perfect. I think they have a website and are part of lettucentertain you group.

We had a work event for 50 people in a private room at Smith & Wollensky and it is probably the best steak I have ever had. They have great drinks and appetizers too. Would recommend it 100%. All our clients were floored by the quality of their food and service.

We had a family wedding dinner for about 20 people at the Stratosphere Tower. They set up a private room on the floor right below the revolving restaurant that had a spectacular view of the strip and the food from Top of the World Restaurant was outstanding. The room was free with 20 minimum. We did have set menu, however, so she might not want that. But food and service were outstanding and we had a great time. We've done special dinners at T of W itself and also Eiffel Tower but don't believe either would work for large groups. The views at both just add to the festivities.

For me, the Stratosphere is a bit...trashy compared to so many upscale options in Las Vegas. Of course the view is outstanding, but the hotel itself is old.

I would head to the Palms..a hipper crowd and the food at Little Buddha is excellent..great clubs too.
Have fun!

We had a family dinner for 25 at Mon Ami Gabi at the Paris Hotel.

Wonderful!

We had my reception dinner at the Palms - LOVED it. We also had a more casual gathering (they gave us the whole upstairs) at Planet Hollywood where we had hot appetizers and drinks for everyone (they were great to work with, too). Lots of options, though - All the restaurants and casinos offer options for stuff like this.....

Canaletto in the Venetian has a nice private dining room that seats 20 to 32 persons..........a photo of the room is available on the website along with some menus

Agree about the Strat hotel/casino but Top of the World has it's own entrance and you avoid all that--very nice restaurant.

I think you can get the whole deal done at Mandalay Bay's Rum Jungle.

The menu is outstanding for variety and flavor. Brazilian style skewered meats and outstanding service should set a great stage for an all-nighter without ever leaving the room.

The music mix and dance floor are unforgettable!

For a blowout bash, you can't go wrong and you won't have to shuttle down or around the strip during precious party time!

Thanks, all!! I'll take these to my daughter.

Keep 'em coming! :)

Wow! People didn't listen when you said you do not want to go broke on dinner. Most of these places are VERY expensive. I live here and have gone to many. Stay away from Smith and Wollensky (you JUST get a steak and have to order everything else on the side) , Stratosphere's restaurant (yes gorgeous but a lot!), Venetian (?) , maybe little buddah (went there a few years ago..do not remember the prices). Dinners at these restaurants are, I would say, definatly around $at least $50 to $100 a head with drinks!

I would keep looking unless you do want to go broke. Just some friendly advice.

Even all the dinner buffets at hotels where the food is actually ok are $35-50 per person. If you're looking to be close to the strip, I don't know how much cheaper than $40 per person for just food you can go.

What are your expectation sarge?

trippinkpj Aug 25th, 2007 05:43 PM

I would check the restuarants at the Palms (the buffet there too), also maybe the Orleans. I would think off strip. Where is most of the party staying?

thanks, courneyclv, for pointing out my original post. You posted earlier about the Cafe BaBa Reeba. That sound promising, but do you think it will be warm enough in mid-January for us to experience the outside seating?

I just did a search and found "Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville". This sounds like the perfect place for this group!!! Has anyone been? Is the food ok? It sure looks like the price is right. How far is this restaurant from, say, Caesar's Palace?

Thanks for the input!

Scrap that last post. Daughter now says if people can't spend 50 bucks on dinner, they don't have to come. :(

She wants something nicer, along the lines of il fornaio (thanks, clark).

Not opposed to eating in a nice restaurant inside a strip hotel. Most folks in the party will be staying on the strip. (Caesar's to Luxor).

So, any more suggestions would be welcome!

Thanks all!!!

Paula

DANG..forgot to add..there are NO children in this group and we prefer to eat where children will normally not be allowed/present.

Thanks!!!

I like Il Fornaio. I especially like the service at Il Fornaio.

But if you're not prepared to just stumble out into NYNY, you might want to reconsider. Stumbling into NYNY isn't such a bad thing though.

I still think Rum Jungle is a great venue.

JRP...we may eat dinner at Il Fornaio, then take the small hike to Mandalay Bay for drinks/dancing!

(This same daughter and I leave for our first trip to Italy on Oct 16th. So having dinner at Il Fornaio might be a nice place to recall all of our fond memories.) :)
