Suggestions for fall, New England mini-honeymoon hotel?
Have seen a few of the threads for "romantic getaways" here, but thought I'd ask a slightly more specific question:
Looking for suggestions for hotels/b&b's in New England for a short escape in mid-late September after our wedding. Want as nice a hotel as possible where we can for the most part stay in our room and chill out (hence, niceness of room more important than location, though it would be nice to have a decent view, and it would be nice to smell the ocean if we decided to take a walk). Looking for around $200-300 per night. Would ideally like a fireplace. And a big bathtub/hot tub. And decent room service. :) (none of those dealbreakers, but to give you an idea...) Suggestions appreciated! |

Okay, this may be a little frank, but the problem with B&B's and "charming inns" is often that everyone next to you, above you, and below you can hear every sound in your room.
So you need a larger hotel or a cottage that would be part of a hotel-resort complex. Look at Wentworth by the Sea in New Hampshire and any one of a number of places in the Camden-Rockport area of Maine. The Captain Daniel (can't remember the name) Inn on the outskirts of Brunswick, Maine, has jacuzzi's in a lot of the rooms and is of solid modern construction, but it is not near the water. |
Not near the ocean, but try the Inn at Thorn Hill (stay in the main inn) in Jackson, NH - quaint town and foliage season is a great time to visit.

B&Bs and charming inns often have breakfast only. And even if there is a restaurant, choices are usually very limited and there is nor room service.
also - it sounds like you are looking for a deluxe room or a suite - if you're going to be spending all your time there - not just a double bed and a couple of straight chairs. I think you are more likely to find what you are looking for in a large upscale cell - but may have to increase your budget. |
