Suggestions for doing, eating, shopping during Thanksgiving week in Cashiers, North Carolina

We are using a friend's timeshare in Sapphire Valley near Cashiers,NC Thanksgiving week. We would appreciate suggestions for restaurants,(not fancy, just good) activities, sights, and (bargain) shopping in the area. We will have a car. Thanks,

The Dilliard House is a must! Great southern cuisine!!! It's in Dilliard Georgia, not to far from Cashiers! Also Highlands NC has some great shopping and restauants! Also, if you've not been to the Biltmore you really should fit that in!!!! Especially because it's decorated for the holidays! Have fun!

Yes, if you get an early start! Or you may want to stay overnight near the Biltmore to take in the Christmas lights on the estate!!!

I like the BBQ place just off the south side of down town Highlands. Highlands is worth a visit.
Last time we stayed at Sapphire Valley we got snowed in! Good luck.

While you are in Highlands be sure to go to Highlands Gem Shop. Just don't buy the chunky amber necklace by the door. I'm going back for that one! Also the Stone Lantern has neat Oriental treasures.

If you are into the outdoors, pack some warm togs and hit the area's waterfall trails. There are tons of them, and many of them do not require strenuous hikes.
