Suggestions for breakfast in New Orleans?
 

Going to be back in New Orleans in August. Does any one have any suggestions for breakfast. I saw that Camellia Grill was possibly one option. Need more details. I know about Cafe Du Monde, Le Madelaine, Petunia's. Forget about Brennans.

Croissant d'Or in the 600 block of Ursulines in the Quarter has great pastry. Clover Grill on the corner of Bourbon and Dumaine has great omelets and waffles. I've never been to Camellia Grill because every time I've tried to go the line has been too long. It's quite popular. Are you interested in brunch places? If so, try Palace Cafe, Feelings Cafe in the Marigny, or Cafe Marigny .

The Royal Cafe on Royal Street is great for breakfast, don't miss the Silver Dollar pancakes.<BR><BR>Enjoy.<BR>

Thanks to Meg's previous referral, we went to Clover Grill. It is a true Diner exerience. A skeleton crew served us. they had had an all night party the night before so regular staff were not there. We enjoyed hearing about the party. It was good to get simple food as a counterbalance to all the regular NOLA fare.

Bluebird Cafe on Prytania Street is extremely popular with locals. Largest cross street is Louisiana (just outside the Garden District). Also good is La Paniche (sp?) in the Marigny.

You can take the streetcar to the Camillia Grill. There is usually a line, but it moves pretty quickly. I live in New Orleans, and have never eaten breakfast there, though friends swear by it. My kids and I like to go there for their cheeseburgers with grilled onions and chocolate shakes. It is very diner-like! Camillia Grill only uses cloth napkins and the counter people are very friendly and entertaining, which is part of the allure of the place. A cute place in French Quarter is Royal Blend, 600 block of Royal, I believe. Coffee shop with a good menu.

Bluebird's great for breakfast. Try the Huevos rancheros and cheese grits. Camellia Grill has the best omelets ever, but they don't open until 10 0r 11.

Just got home from a delightful two-day visit to New Orleans and want to disagree with Pete's assessment of Bren- nan's for breakfast. My host and I had a MARVELOUS breakfast at Brennan's--more than I could eat, very tasty, and very attentively served. Like other Brennan properties (we had dinner at Commander's last night; the starting price in both places was $37 per head)it is pricey. But worth it. Don't bad-mouth it until you try it. Joan

Others we liked were Mothers. Pierre Maspero's. <BR> <BR>Is Pere Antoine's still open and serving breakfast? <BR> <BR>We really enjoyed Petunia's.
