suggestions for B'day celebration
Need some true New Yorkers help here. I live in the Hudson Valley and am looking for a fun place to celebrate my husband?s 45th birthday with the family (8-10 people). Keep in mind, we have two kids (13 and 7) and his dad is in a wheelchair. Not interested in Broadway shows. Just a place where we can gather everyone and have a great time with at least some decent food or great views. I was thinking a World Yacht brunch cruise. I have done the dinner cruise alone with my husband and I was hoping the brunch cruise would be more casual and kid friendly. Has anyone gone on the brunch cruise? Any other suggestions would also be welcome as this is the only thing I have come up with so far and I need to plan something within the next two weeks. Open to NYC or Hudson Valley. Thanks.

When is this happening Lia? If you do NYC would you just drive in for the day? What day of the week? Seems to me you might be better off, given the size of the party and the wheelchair issue doing something closer to home unless I'm missing something. There's a Chart House in Dobbs Ferry that sits on the water. But haven't been there in years. Something near West Point?
How about the Culinary Institute of America's rest. American Bounty? http://www.ciachef.edu/restaurants/bounty/index.html |
I was also going to recommend the culinary institute. Another recommendation is the Beekman Arms in Rhinecliff

Well, the thing is his parents live in the city and it is more convenient for us to go down or to do something in lower Westchester than to have them come up. His brother lives in Weschester and we are in Putnam. We are the furthest within an hour of the city. We don't mind driving it. This will take place on a weekend, preferably Sunday.

By the way, we have done culinary institute. The reservations are usually a three month wait.
