Suggestions for Agritourism in Warwick, NY

I meant to post this earlier today and forgot, but we are driving up to Warwick, NY for the day on Sunday, 10/8. 'We' is myself, my husband, and our HFA teenager. The teenager has an agenda that involves picking apples (preferably heirloom varieties), visiting a petting zoo, and eating lunch. Lunch should not cost a million dollars, but hot dogs and hamburgers will definitely not do.

We had thought to end up at Warwick Valley, since we know that we like their cafe and a winery visit is always fun, but we want to make at least one stop before that. Their website claims they have apple picking, but I'm pretty sure they do not have animals to pet. Suggestions?

DS will love almost any kind of "fall in the country" activity. He is well-behaved in restaurants and fairly sophisticated about food. I think one winery is probably plenty, but he usually likes visiting them, since many of them have food available and he thinks it's interesting to hear them talk about making wine.

What the hey is HFA?

High-functioning autism, or in the case of DS someone who is intellectually able but childish, clumsy, and very quirky. I don't always mention it in my posts, but thought it was relevant here since the agenda was a little peculiar, since most 16-year-olds don't want to visit the petting zoo, and most younger children don't care what varieties of apple they are picking and are happy to lunch on snack bar fare.

Check out Applewood Orchards.

I've never been there, but their website lists activities, animals, apple varieties, and also has links to other WV activities.

FYI - there are plenty of "Apple Picking" orchards all over the Warwick area. Many of those place have other family actvities on weekends. Still other places have pumpkin picking and various farmers markets. We take our granddaughter there for a day every Fall - we drive around stopping at those place that peak our interest for that day.

You can also visit the nearby craft village of Sugarloaf and the Museum Village in Monroe.

We are back, we have picked apples, we had a very nice lunch, and we petted some goats and a miniature donkey. Thank you for your answers!
