Suggestions?? Boston Family Trip

Hello Everyone
I am taking my family to Boston for a few days the last week of March
Can anyone recommend good things to do with two teenage Boys.
I was thinking the Freedom Trail, Museum of Science and the Aquarium..
What else should be on my list?
Thanks!
Dan

PS..Is that GOBOSTON card worth the price?

If they like baseball, how about a tour of Fenway Park?

They might think the Duck Tours are too corny, but that is a possibility.

It will be too early for whale watch cruises - otherwise I would recommend that.

If they are interested in military things and you have a car, Battleship Cove in Fall River is a possibility: http://www.battleshipcove.org/

If you have never tried candlepin bowling, they might like that. It was invented in Worcester, MA, in 1880. The pins are about the size of the tube in a roll of paper towels, the balls are only 4.5 inches across, and you get three balls per frame. See http://www.bowlcandlepin.com/ for history and to search for locations and also http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Candlepin_bowling

And speaking of Worcester, if they like knights and armor they might find the Higgins Armory Museum there of interest: http://www.higgins.org/ You will need a car to get there as well.

By the way, if you are staying in Boston, you will not need a car for the city. Public transit and walking should be fine. If you want to venture out, just rent one for the day from a city location (not the airport).

And perhaps a show? Another thread reminded me of the Blue Man Group show.

If you go to the MIT Museum (in Building 51), you might want to check out these two displays as well (they are not at the MIT Museum):

The Corridor Lab has displays about the work of Harold Edgerton (pictures of bullets piercing playing cards, water droplets spraying, etc. - and how he made them). This is in a hallway on the 4th floor of Building 4 - seems random, but I found it interesting. http://web.mit.edu/Edgerton/www/CorridorLab.html

The Hart Nautical Gallery (ground floor of Building 5) - If the guys like model ships they will find this of interest. Models range from sailing ships to modern tankers. There is also an exhibit on ocean exploration. http://web.mit.edu/museum/exhibitions/hart.html

For an MIT map go to http://whereis.mit.edu/?selection=5;...ayer=Buildings

Boston's well covered on this board and I remember seeing several threads in past addressing the question of what Boston offers for families. Would recommend doing a site search here with the appropriate keywords.

If memory serves, there are past threads addressing the question of what Boston offers for families -- and in any event, Boston is well covered on this board. A site search with appropriate keywords is recommended.

GoBoston card - depends on what you plan to do. Freedom Trail is free.

Freedom Trail, dinner in North End (Italian), Faneuil Hall/Quincy Market area shops (I know they are boys, but this is also on Freedom Trail and lots of food there).

NE Aquarium is below-average Aquarium, so depends on how much you like to look at fish. Institute of Contemporary Art might be a surprising choice for teenage boys - but it has unique cool art, much of it huge, and a great view of the Harbor. Museum of Science if weather is bad.

Definitely Fenway Park tour. If any of you are into the witch stuff you could take the train to Salem for the day.

Never too early to start looking at colleges. MIT, Harvard, BU, BC, Northeastern, Wentworth, plus dozens more

Historic sights in general are always hits with my teen girls, especially if they have studied the particular events.

Sports minded teens might enjoy a game at Boston Garden -- either Bruins or Celtics.
