Suggestion for great desert resort nr San Diego
 

We will be going to San Diego and renting a car. We would like to spend a couple of days in the desert. We don't golf, but we like hiking, driving around, swimming and to be treated well in a nice surroudning. What are the best high end desert hotels/resorts that you recommend? Thanks

Anza Borrego is a beautiful spot for hiking. There is a resort there, I can't think of the name but you'll probably want to do a search on Borrego anyway. It's very popular. I've never stayed there b/c I live in San Diego, thus it's difficult to comment on hotels.

my favorite desert resort is the La Quinta Resort. Beautiful grounds, very charming. Not super luxury, but for my money the nicest resort around Palm Springs area.

for the local San Diego desert this the end resort in Borrego Springs.
