suggestion, elderly parents on a cruise

My elderly parents will be traveling to Juneau in July for 9 days and they want to find a cruise (probably in the inside passage) which includes day trips in the forests, towns, wildlife excursions, etc. Does anyone know about any very Specific cruise packages which you have traveled which would be appropriate for my parents.
thanks, Keith
art,

check out this website:
cruisecritic.com
All cruise lines are represented; the posters are knowledgeable and there is excellent info re: shore excursions.
on cruisecritic.com, you may want to check out Holland America (HAL), Celebrity and Princess. all sail 'inside passage'. since your parents will be in juneau, click on 'ports of call' then click on alaska.
i'm betting you will get a host of good suggestions.
Art, none of the cruises begin or terminate in Juneau, so if they want to do a cruise they'd have to start or end in Seward (north) or Vancouver or Seattle. The cruise ship would then call at Juneau during the cruise, but they wouldn't be able to spend 9 days there, just the one day the ship calls.

The Alaska State Ferry allows stopovers and layovers all up and down the coast, so that might be a better means for them to travel. They can easily arrange tours or excursions in Juneau or anywhere else; if the tour operators can accommodate the thousands of tourists arriving weekly on the cruise ships, they can manage to fit in your folks. The ferry's website is http://www.dot.state.ak.us/amhs/index.html - the ferry covers the same water as the cruise liners, it just doesn't offer the same level of creature comforts (not bad, just not fancy.)

The above information is incorrect. My husband and I will be traveling with Cruise West for 9 days on their Secluded Waterways tour 4A, Juneau to Ketchikan.

Celebrity has a ship (Infinity) that departs vancouver on 6/28 for a one week trip on inland waterway- stops in Juneau, Skagway and other places.

You will get more information if you repost under the cruise category.
