Sugg for Seattle area public golf courses

Just curious if Seattle or surrounding area has some gems (with all the rain -- is the rough 2 feet high?). We enjoy golf -- just wonder if it is worthwhile to bring the clubs for a 10 day visit.

Good courses in the Seattle area to check out: Kayak, Harbour Point, and Newcastle. There's a TPC course near Snoqualmie (a Champion's Tour even was played there last year). The city proper has some pretty good municipal courses. The rough isn't 2 feet high-remember, we don't get that much rain (lots of grey skies, though).

Christy -- thanks for the reply. We are visiting our son and would like to encourage him to take up the sport.

One of the best public courses in the region is Gold Mountain in Bremerton. Kayak is great but a bit in need of renovation. Newcastle is beautiful but difficult and expensive for someone just taking up the sport.

I'd plug a muni, West Seattle. You get great city skyline views and it's a relatively fun, hilly layout. Also, there's Willows Run in the burbs, which is in a neat area next to Chateau St. Michelle, Columbia Wineries and Red Hook Brewery.

There are many more not listed and quite affordable: McCormack Woods, Gold Mountain, Eaglemont to name a few. Go to Washington golf web sites and you'll find many more
