Subway to Brooklyn???

We are considering taking the subway to Brooklyn but can't figure out which is the right one. We are just going over to walk back along the Brooklyn Bridge. Any idea what subway to take?? We will either be starting close to our hotel which is on W 32nd street or the Woolworth building. Or even whichever way is easiest, don't want to many transfers.

Thank you
Kim

The site above is a map of the subway system.

The nearest stop to the Brooklyn Brisge is High Street on the A,C. lines

There is also Clark Street on the 2,3 lines.

Then a little farther away but still convenient is Boro Hall on the m,n,r,4,5.

All those trains are near the Woolworth Building but it all depends where you are on West 32nd for the closest train from there.

Thank you for the quick response.

I am finding the subway system very intimidating but DH and DD want to take a NYC subway. So if you could walk this directionly challenged person that would be great.

if I get on the subway at the Chambers St at either Church or West Broadway and want to get off at High Street which is closest to Brooklyn Bridge what subway do I get on where do I have to transfer?

Sorry for just not getting this but WOW there is alot of subways in NY

Thanks Kim

This is really much easier than you think.

When you get to the subway entrance make sure it says A, C.

Go to the platform that says either Brooklyn or Downtown/Brooklyn. There will one more stop in Manhattan, Broadwauy/Nassau/Fulton Street. Then the train will go for a while under the river and the next stop will High Street. No transfer, no fuss, no mess.

Hopstop.com will give you directions. There are several good previous posts with directions on walking the B'klyn bridge if you do a search here.
