Strollers on airplane

Can you bring a stroller on board the aircraft. Has anyone bought a lightweight stroller that is good for travel and will be allowed on aircraft without checking it in baggage area. I would like to buy one for Christmas.

Small, lightweight "umbrella" strollers will fit down aisle and in overhead bin. Certainly not the currently popular SUS (sports utility strollers). Unfortunately, umbrella strollers don't work well for really little babies or large toddlers.

I am so happy that my kids are teenagers now and I don't need to deal with this - Happy Thanksgiving.

No matter the size, you can "gate check" your stroller. Basically you wheel your child down the jet way and before entering the airplane door, remove the child and leave the stroller there. Airport personnel will take the stroller to the baggage section of the plane. Upon arrival at your destination, the stroller will be brought to you upon exiting the plane. Its very simple and convenient!

YOu shouldn't have to check in in the baggage area. If it's too big for the plane, they would do a gate check and bring it to you once you land, I believe. You could check with your airline for their policy.

we bought a lightweight stroller for our trip to st. john. we didn't have to check it in baggage area, but the airline took it from us at the gate. they brought it back to us at the gate when we landed. i've seen that done with other people traveling with kids. i believe all the airlines do that, someone please correct me if i'm wrong.
