"Stripping" in Vegas
 

Hello!

We are going to Vegas in a couple of weeks, staying downtown and will have a car. We'll spend a day downtown and probably one exploring the strip and maybe some other areas.
We have been to LV before, but this is our first opportunity to really explore just for fun. We like to walk, and I was thinking about parking at one (or maybe two) hotel/casinos and just walking from those locations rather than hassling with getting in and out of too many parking lots.

Does anyone who knows the area have any suggestions for a strip parking/walking game plan?

Park at Excalibur, use tram to mandalay Bay and Luxor, walk to MGM, NYNY, Tropicana, Monte Carlo, Planet Hollywood, Bellagio, Paris, Bally's and or Hooters. If you still want to see more, or if those are not on your list, park at Treasure Island tram connects to Mirage. Easy walk to Wynn, Encore, Palazzo, Venetian, Harrahs. Caesars and Flamingo.

Park at the Wynn. See that place then Treasure Island, Mirage, Caesars, Bellagio, cross the blvd to Paris, then Flamingo etc to Venetian and Wynn.

Park at Rio. See that place then take the shuttle to Caesars and make the loop above.

Park at Flamingo, or any other casino on that side (east side) of LV Blvd.

Park at the Hilton. Take the monorail all the way to the MGM. Then visit NYNY, Planet Hollywood and the rest. Great views, imo, from the monorail.

We'd also like to sample a couple of places off the strip if we have time. Any suggestions for loose slots and maybe a different experience than downtown and the strip?

Green Valley Ranch (GVR) and Red Rocks Casino (RRC) are two of the nicer locals casinos. Both owned by Station Casinos, both are right off the 215 beltway. GVR is located off of Green Valley Parkway east of McCarran Airport. RRC is on the west side of Las Vegas on Charleston Boulevard.

You can drive from casino to casino. Drop your car off for valet parking and walk into the casino. Its the easiest way.

You could see more than one casino at a time. It is the walking from the parking lot and back through the casino that takes the time and involves a lot of walking.

I've heard waiting for the valet can take a while, too. I am really looking forward to exploring as much as possible without driving myself crazy!

Wear comfortable shoes.

No kidding. I think it will have to be tennis shoes for the kind of walking we plan to do. So much for being "hip" in Sin City!

I second parking at the Wynn... and parking at Bellagio..

That was the easiest... learn the back road... (just look at the map) or sit in traffic which = not fun...

As you have been advised - wear tennis shoes - lots of walking - we generally walk from Luxor to Stratsphere - and a decent casino in Old Las Vegas is the Golden Nugget - like the atmosphere there.

No matter where you go you will experience something different everywhere.

We are staying at the Golden Nugget. I am really interested in downtown. I know a lot of people diss it, but I'm excited.
