Street Vendors
Is There any specific area of NYC that
is know for having an abundance of Street Vendors? I'm looking for the type that sell fake designer handbags, etc. Thanks

Just walk anywhere in mid-Manhattan! Fifth Avenue is one popular spot for these sales of ersatz designer junk!

Wendy, don't worry you won't have to look for them much, they will sort of find you, lol, and they are all over the city.

Try in the 34th St. area, near the Empire State.

Canal St., Chinatown, Little Italy, Soho, The Village, lol, come to think about it, lol, they are everywhere.

LOL, have a fun time while you are here and if you need any specifics, please let me know.

tweedy

6th Ave/Broadway near 34th St, in front of the Toys 'R' Us complex near Macy's, is a key spot for people selling "designer" purses, perfume, watches, etc. They'll be delighted to have you as a customer. Also try 14th St. west of 7th Ave. and Canal St. That's where I've walked by the most "designer" street-vendor stuff.

Just north of the Toys R Us complex there's a guy set up most days who sells ladies sweaters NEW for $1 or $2 (maybe cheaper - hard to believe but I can't recall). For those interested in the cultural and social issues underlying the NYC street vending cuolture I highly recommend a recently released book (at your library now) byt Mitchell D... (can't recall the last name but it begins with "D"). It's entitled "Sidewalk" and is a real eye-opener that offers a fascinating perspective of the lives, culture, personal histories and value systems of varied individuals who choose this way of living and supporting themselves. It will surprise you and I highly recommend it.

Great question, Wendy! So.....what is a good price to pay for a fake designer bag? How low can we try to go? (For Chanel, Luis Vuitton etc.)
