Stratosphere in Vegas?

We're looking at staying at the Stratosphere in Vegas in May....is this a good or bad idea?

Bad idea. It's half way between the Strip and Downtown in a seedy neighborhood. You must drive to get anywhere.

Avoid.
There's a reason this place has been in Chapter 11 bankruptcy since before Strom Thurmond was born.

Mike said it right: It's a nice place to visit but you wouldn't want to stay there. Very seedy area you can't walk around it and you're far from everywhere you'd want to be.

I agree with the poster who said visit, dont stay there. Strasophere's location is in a seedy area a mile or so North of the new resorts. There are reasonably priced hotels mid /south strip that you would enjoy much more. Stratosphere has a good impersonator show and the observation tower is wonderful.

one good thing about the Strat not doing so well is the fact that they offer some of the best payouts on the machines and very good rules on BJ..
but wouldn't want to stay there.
