Stowe VT for Christmas - Your Advice/views please

My husband and I (no kids)are considering spending Christmas in Stowe VT, We have only visited Stowe in may but have heard wonderful things about winter in Stowe.
Would hope to arrive on the 23rd or 24th Dec. We are looking for suggestions on accommodation. We would prefer somewhere with/close to christmas activities/events and some on site amenities but are not too bothered about really upscale accommodations.
We would love to hear from those who have spent Christmas in Stowe and their recommendations, suggestions and views.
Thanks in advance for all feedback.
Louise

Though I've only been in Stowe in the summer, I would bet that the Trapp Family Lodge would be gorgeous at Christmas. Its a lovely resort with fireplaces, comfy furniture, a nice dining room, cross country skiing and downhill not too far. Quite romantic to me.Stowe would be like a story book at Christmas time. Enjoy your stay.

I live in Burlington, and can tell you that Stowe is indeed lovely at Christmas---festive and community oriented! I'd book now, however, as rooms can go fast!

Kelly
