Stowe Restaurants
 

Heading to Stowe after Thanksgiving with my girlfriend and I'm looking for any suggestions on restaurants. I'll eat pretty much anything but she's more picky. She doesn't eat seafood, but pretty much eats anything else...We'll probably do a nice restaurant one night and pub grub the second night after skiing...Any suggestions would be great...As a side note we're staying at the Top Notch. Reviews?

Definitely the Matterhorn for pub grub. You'll pass it on the way back from the hill. The Shed was also nice for pub atmosphere with a lot of different good choices on the menu. We ate in the bar, there is also a nicer dining area. For a really nice dinner we went to The Whip in the Green Mountain Inn and it was great.

Gracie's also has really great food.

We were just in Stowe at the end of September. We go every year around this time and have tried a lot of restaurants.

We had a really poor meal at the Shed this year and won't be back, it wasn't great last year either. We also did The Whip - okay but not great and very noisy.

For the first time we tried the bar area at the Grey Fox Inn and had a really nice casual meal - would recommend it.

In the past we have tried Trattoria La Festa for Italian which was pretty good, Charlie B's had good and bad meals there and Ye Olde England Inn which was pricey and awful.

There are lots of restaurants but most are just okay for some reason -can't say we've had a great meal anywhere recently. Used to love Whiskers but has been closed for years and is now Gracie's which is just okay.

Just my opinions but hope they help.

I honeymooned in Stowe several years ago and stayed at the Stone Hill Inn. Their recommendations for dinner were spot on and the places we went that weren't on the list were so-so.

Good pizza and bar atmosphere at Pie-Casso.

The Matterhorn is a good place for pub grub... I like the Sunset Grille and Tap Room as well...

We've always enjoyed The Whip. Excellent service, nice atmosphere, great food.

I live 'down the road' from Stowe and while most restaurants there are overpriced, I enjoy the Foxfire Inn and Restaurant (Italian food).

Near the I-89 exit is the Alchemist in Waterbury. A terrific brew pub with good beer and good (reasonably priced) food.

These skiiers know about eating in Stowe. Pie in the Sky & Tratorria were both wonderful, and we had a great meal at the shed, but it was 4 yrs ago, so trust the other folks here.
