Storm damage?
We're thinking of a weekend at VA Beach. Does anyone know how much damage the recent hurricanes caused there?
Thanks! |
I'll answer this only because no one else has. I never go to VA Beach but I haven't heard about any damage from the storms. Most of the VA damage was in the western part of the state and Richmond because of the heavy rains. Richmond seems to have cleaned up well. I don't think you'll find any effect in VA Beach.

You might try contacting someone in Virginia Beach directly, such as those in charge of tourism. Here is one website:

The beach is fine...we haven't been affected by any recent storms. Tropical Storm Jennie might be another story in a week or two though... :-)

Thanks for your replies everyone. I guess we'll just wait and see what course hurricane Jean takes.
Ps. You couldn't pay me to go to VA Beach during the warm months...not my scene. Off-season is another story. No crowds. The fresh seafood is GREAT! The view of the water is still beautiful. I can walk my dog on the beach. (Yes, I do clean up after him!) And, most importantly, it is the closest beach to the mountains where I now live. Having grown up on a different part of the coast, I need an occasional salt air fix. For that VA Beach fills the bill. |
