Storage near Yankee Stadium

Will be arriving JFK at 12:15 pm and will go directly to Yankee Stadium for 1:00 pm game. They will not allow us to bring baggage into stadium. Is there anywhere near the stadium that we can store luggage? We will be staying in the West Village. I presume the fastest way to get to the game is by taxi? How long will it take to get there? Thank You

Well you will not make it to the game for the beginning. That much is for sure. There are businesses near the stadium that will hold your bags ( for a fee, of course), but I don't have any direct experience and can't make a recommendation. If this is a weekend day, you may be able to make the trip in an hour, but that seems a bit optimistic to me and not at all likely on a weekday.

Before the new stadium was built, people used a nearby bowling alley http://www.nytimes.com/2007/05/25/sp...bags.html?_r=1

With the new stadium, I'm not sure how close it is.

Even if the stadium was close to JFK, there would be very little chance to make the game for the beginning. By the time, you get out of the airport, it will probably be 12:45 or so. Hopefully you have tickets in hand.

Have you looked into how often your plane is on time. Have you allowed 20 minutes from touchdown to wend your way out to transportation. Not at all sure of the best way to do this.

Public transit would be the long way around and will take I would think at least 1.5 hours. Car service might be better or not - depending on day - and how massive the traffic jams are near the Stadium. With luck you will see the second half of the game. (And I assume you have tickets already.)

Thank you everyone for your helpful suggestions. We will check with the bowling alley to see if they still do the storage thing. Haven't gotten the tickets yet but may need to rethink the whole idea. It's getting more complicated than we anticipated.

If you don;t have tickets yet your chance of getting decent ones (except for super expensive boxes) is close to nil. I would go and look at ticket options for your date before pursuing the details any further.

Arriving at JFK at 12:15 p.m. and wanting to go to a 1 p.m. game at Yankee Stadium....and you have to drop off your luggage somewhere beforehand....and further, you don't have tickets?
I'd seriously--very seriously--reconsider those plans!

There used to be a hot dog vendor who would keep people's guns before they entered Bronx Criminal Court.

Please reconsider this. Not only will you miss the first 2 or 3 innings depending on the pace of the game, you will inevitably interrupt everybody sitting in that section and maybe even find people sitting in your vacant seats. My biggest irritant at games is people showing up late.
