Hiya Dotty6
Thanks for the info.I found your trip summary, and have decided to perhaps split our trip into a few stages with some prebooked stopovers. We haven't booked anywhere except the 1st night in Denver. We fly out on 6th Sept so there isn't too much time left! We plan to go from Denver to Rapid City, Deadwood and then on to Yellowstone. After that we will drive through Jackson Hole and the Tetons(or whichever order that's in) and then through The Black Canyon to Ourey and Durango. We have put together a rough itinery because we have got to be back in Denver to catch our flight home on 20th. I think we will change our route at some point as knowing me I will want to stop somewhere longer than planned( thats a girl thing!). O/half lived in Colorado for a while so he has been to a few of the places before. I will keep you posted. Glad I found the Fodor site!

Hi again jinnysue. I am so envious of your forthcoming trip. I would love to do it all over again (despite the problems we encountered).

Please post a trip report when you get back as I would love to hear how you got on.

You should come out of the south exit of Yellowstone and will then drive through the Tetons into Jackson Hole. The scenery is absolutely breathtaking. I know you will enjoy it.

I'm still trying to talk the wife into letting me get a picture of her standing next to the sign for Crazy Woman Creek just outside Buffalo.
