Stone Mountain
We may be coming to Atlanta during spring break with about 25 high school students.
Is Stone Mountain a place to spend an entire day? We will have a tour bus with us. They will be having the laser show on the date we will be there. |
Personally I think a full day is somewhat overlong for Stone Mountain. It's well worth seeing, but one can do it easily in a half day. If you're looking for something else to do, consider taking the tour of the Coca-Cola facility or CNN studios.

Lots of stuff to see and do,
enough to fill a day easy |
I'm with therenaissanceman, not enough to see over an entire day.

We visited Stone mountain in Sept.last in half a day. We went up the mountain by cable car and down on foot.Very doable for your students. We're seniors.Paul

With a group that size, it will take longer than for just two or three people. I am sure that just keeping track of them, getting food, etc. will take up enough time that no one will be bored. I wouldn't plan to try anything else. You don't want to find yourself rushing in order to fit everything into a schedule.

There's a lot more to do at Stone Mountain than going up and down the mountain! You could easily spend a day there.

Yes you can easily spend the entire day there. We were very impressed when we went 2 years ago. We spent all day there and did not do everything.

I live approximately a mile and half from Stone Mountain gate. Yet, I RARELY get there. My company decided to have an outing there about a year ago. I was there from about 11:00 a.m. until the laser show was done. It was a long day.
I was surprised at how many things were available. We had one of the pavilions for a couple of hours and grilled, played games, and won prizes. We then hung around and enjoyed so many things at the park. Took a boat tour around the lake, went to the top of the mountain, completed the train around the mountain, some did the DUCK tour, enjoyed the virtual theater, and all the park had to offer. We had a good time. I also think there is some type of beach and fishing available. Not sure. It's a great place for students to kind of branch out on their own in small groups. I think they would have a great time. |
We enjoyed going to the plantation area and visiting the different houses; on the train; on a boat ride; to the zoo area; up to the top; and the laser show is the best. We barely touched the surface.

There's a LOT to do at Stone Mountain. There was a lot before the new additions (back in the dark ages when I used to work there). Check out the website for all sorts of options. Have fun!
