Stomp tkts New York
What's the best way to get tickets to Stomp?? We're coming in early July and we'll
need four. Second question, is Stomp or Hairspray better for a 15, 13 and 12 year old?? The 12 year old is a boy. Thanks |
No advice on how to acquire the tickets but my vote would be for stomp all the way. Not only would the kids be amused with the music and dancing but they would also love the comedy. Simple clean fun that is visually stimulating

Ticketmaster.com for tickets.
|
If you want to pay full price + 'service charges' then ticketmaster. Try www.broadwaybox.com or www.nytix.com. I just got four Stomp tickets for $204 in Row G. I probably saved $100 off the ticketmaster price + got better seats. Stomp is great for kids, my 3 year old has even been to see it.

I haven't seen Stomp, but Hairspray is also great. Very lively, catchy music, cute story. My son, who doesn't like theater all that much, loved Hairspray and would see it again in a heartbeat. He probably was about 12 when I took him. It's his favorite show to date (and he's seen Phantom, Cats, Wicked, Rent and others).
I think you won't go wrong with either. The big difference being is Hairspray has a story with characters that your kids may even relate to, I believe stomp of more of a 'performance'. Perhaps you should have your kids read the summaries on playbill.com and allow them to choose. |
Are your children used to going to theaters? If not, they may be bored watching Stomp, it's not a play.
|
I 'm not really sure how anyone would get bored watching Stomp. Since there is constant activity (& 'music') it is of my opinion that it makes it more attractive to children. If you can hold my 3 year olds attention for that period of time...well you're doing something right. This will be the 5th time I've seen it (& 5th venue), & we will be taking two 19 year olds. Personally, I think either would be a fine choice.

My manager was bored and said, he coudln't get out of there soon enough.
I loved it, so unusual! |
Thanks for the quick replys. I saw Stomp in Montreal many years ago so I don't remember a lot about it. Maybe I'll give them the play bill website and let them pick. I'll enjoy either one.

Both Stomp and Hairspray are available on discount from broadwaybox.com but I think you may have to wait a bit to buy since current codes may only work through June. They're so different, I don't know how you can compare. Hairpsray is on Broadway and is a more traditional musical. Stomp is an off Broadway "performance"--no story line.
