Stomp

We will be visiting NYC very soon and would like opinions recommendations on Stomp, Blue Man Group and De la Guarda - if you had to choose between them, which would you choose and why? I've read comments and reviews but would appreciate comparisons!

Thanks.

Blue man group,by far. Very entertaining and unusual. It is also much more "fun" than Stomp. Stomp is good as well, but I would choose BMG.

I did not see DLG but saw the other 2. The rest of my family saw DLG and just 2 comments:

1) You stand a long time (no seats)
2) It's ever so slightly risque. That's a relative term so it depends how you react to such things. My mom was a little uncomfortable because one of the performers got sexually physically with my then 15 year old brother. To some people this is a big deal and to others, not so it depends on you.

If you are a musician and especially a percussionist you should like Stomp, there is significant musical talent there.

BMG is hard to describe but it was my favorite. A little percussion a la Stomp, a little physical dexterity tricks (somewhat comparable to a juggling show but different), a little performance art (in communicating without speech), sort of like Mummenchanz if you were familiar with that in the 70's.

Many people don't like BMG because it's too weird. If you find yourself using the word "weird" a lot you might not like it. Just a warning because a lot of people shell out big bucks for the tickets and are very disappointed. With BMG, it seems like you either love it or hate it so it really depends a lot on what you're into. STomp is a little more "what you see is what you get" or what you expect anyway.

I've seen all three, and in preference order:

1) Blue Man Group
2) Stomp
3) DeLaguarda

(with a wide margin between each selection, meaning BMG is much better than Stomp, and Stomp is MUCH better than DeLaguarda)

If you've ever been in a band you will LOVE Stomp. If you haven't you will still enjoy it very much.

It was very exciting and energizing.

STOMP is much, much better!! Iwouldn't watch BMG again thouh it's nice. I've seen STOMP twice, and would see it again.

Only saw Stomp... the first five minutes I thought I would be bored for a whole show of this but actually we ended up really enjoying it. Fun and innovative

DEFINITELY BLUE MAN GROUP!
Another vote for Stomp over BMG. My family found Stomp to be consistently entertaining all the way through, while BMG had some segments that were VERY slow... almost boring. BMG also had some segments that were excellent, but it just wasn't as consistent as Stomp.

Never seen DLG (our younger son is too young).

Thanks everyone for your comments. I can't say I'm much the wiser - there was never going to be one clear cut winner - and I guess it is always going to be a personal thing. For sure, I think we will enjoy either Stomp or BMG - now if only I knew how to get discounted tickets, perhaps I could do both????!

Thanks again!

BMG all the way and ask for seats in the front, preferably aisle, get there early, and be willing to participate. you will enjoy it immensely
