Chapeau is a little known restaurant over in the Richmond District with a great wine list. I'm assuming from your name that that is of interest to you.

Hey winegeek, your second post has jogged my memory to another place, bacar in the SOMA. They have a spectacular wine list. Look for the review on sfgate.com. And I'm still voting for Delfina and Chez Panisse.

Kam & Sue'Spike,

Ever hear of Lulu's in SF? I did a text search and got zippo but the way this site is acting lately....

We're coming down for a run the end of March for 2 nights and a client of Mrs Kal's recommended it? The name escapes me.

We're cosidering Danko, too. Is it as hard to get a res there than Fr Laundry?
Thx,
Kal

Kal, sorry Danko is outa my league. ;-) I've definitely heard of Lulu and I bet you could find Michael Bauer's review in the Chron at sfgate.com. Also, try a search on chowhound.com on the SF bay area board.

We ate a place called Enrico's last time we were there. It was excellent and has a great outside patio area. Great people watching spot!

Lulu's is very popular and good with only downside the noise levels. Go to www.sfgate.com for reviews. Gary Danko is hard to get a reservation---start trying right now. www.garydanko.com. Another one like it is Fifth Floor or Elizabeth Daniel, but all are very expensive. Just don't fall into the Farallon trap if you want value for those big bucks. Also, sometimes you find good things at www.opentable.com or www.savvydiner.com. Good luck and have fun in SF.

Thx guys.

Duhhhh...how many times have I read the "sfgate" and "chowhound" sites?!?!

I've been "hinted to" that Mrs K may want to go for a "13b" at Scoma's...Spicy "lazyman's" cioppino the night after the run.
So Sunday night IS MINE!!!!

I did stumble on Sunday's SF Chron revu of one of my new fave restaurants. Martini House up in St Helena. A Pat Kuleto venture. We went there for it's grand opening night and our 22nd wed/anniv dinner the Sat after T'giving.

First rate and we got to meet Pat. Wadda schmoozer. I can see why he's successful.
Kal

For the finest upscale dining try The Fifth Floor in the Hotel Palomar or Asia de Cuba in the Clift Hotel. Other interesting places with great food are The Cosmopolitan Cafe, Butterfly, Crustacean, Lapis, Globe, and (not sure of spelling)Arguello.

We loved Boulevard when we were there in July. Check out their web site.

Some of my favorites: SF - Hawthorne Lane; Slanted Door; I agree with The Fifth Floor; for a good brunch Abcinthe (415) 551-1590 (call ahead just to make sure the menu appeals to you)....enjoy.

Q:Anybody try Cobalt, the old WashBag?
(Wash Sq Bar and Grill).

Kam...Re Lulu's and noise levels.
Mrs K comes from a very large Italian family so unless the roar is more than a 747 at take-off, just another Holiday dinner in Little Italy. ;^)

I do like how most restaurant reviews now include noise levels. Nothing worse than a great dinner filled with a bunch of "Huhs, whats, excuse mes". I guess a bad dinner would be worse. Sorry. It's Friday.
Kal
